Congratulations! You have finished your quilt top. Let us help you turn all your hard work into a finished quilt.
Long Arm Machine Quilting Service:
We offer an "edge-to-edge" computer assisted machine quilting service. This type of service does not allow for stopping or quilting around certain blocks, fabrics, borders, or images. The quilting design will start on one side of the quilt, and repeat across to the other side of the quilt and will repeat, in rows, down the length of your quilt. Most quilting designs can be "nested" as to not actually see rows.
No quilting design will be used without your approval. If you have a preferred design please let us know and we will attempt to acquire that design for your quilt, or you may choose from any of the designs we currently have available. UrbanElementz (https://www.urbanelementz.com/) is a great source of quilting design ideas. If you have not chosen a design prior to sending us your quilt top we will work with you to choose a design that will compliment your quilt top. Upon receipt of your quilt we will recommend a number of available designs for you to choose from based on the overall design of your quilt.
Quilt Preparation Checklist:
We want you to be happy with your finished quilt. Please review the following checklist to be sure you have done everything you can to enable us to do the best possible quilting on your quilt top. Machine quilting will not “fix” fullness, puckering, poor sewing, inadequate seam allowance, improperly measured borders, or the squareness of your quilt. We cannot guarantee that puckers and tucks won’t be sewn in. In some cases excessive fullness in borders may result in the quilt corners not being square. The flatter your quilt top is, the better the finished quilt will be.
- All threads must be trimmed.
- Quilt top and backing must be flat and well pressed. Any embroidery or appliqué must lay flat without loose fabric or threads. Quilts with embellishments (buttons, sequins, pins), no loose fabric will not be accepted.
- We do not piece your backing. You will need to send your backing pieced, with the seam pressed. Selvedges must be removed from seamed edges.
- Your backing must be a minimum of 4" larger on all four sides than the pieced quilt top. Maximum width for our machine is 132". (We do not accept bed sheets or blankets as a backing fabric.)
- If the quilt top or backing is directional, please indicate with a pinned note.
Pricing:
Our pricing is based on the size of your quilt top at $.025 per square inch. This price includes thread. It does not include batting or backing.
Tight or dense quilting design size requests may be subject an additional thread charge. Your agreement to any additional charge will be required prior to starting work on your quilt.
Your quilt will not be released/shipped until payment is received. If payment is delinquent past 60 days after completion of your quilt, your quilt will be considered property of Red Dragon Quilts. Every attempt will be made to contact to you, if there are any payment concerns.
Batting:
Batting is available at $4/linear foot at 96" wide and $5/linear foot at 120" wide. We have 100% cotton and 80/20 Cotton/poly blend. We also offer bamboo batting at $6/ linear foot at 96" wide.
Thread:
We use two kinds of thread: Fil-Tec Glide and King Tut. Both machine washable and low dry. Fill-Tec Glide is polyester and has a slight sheen. King Tut is 100% cotton and is usually variegated.
We use the same thread for the top and bottom stitches. Please think of your thread color choice carefully, based on your pieced top fabrics and your backing fabric colors.
We will select the closest thread tone you have chosen to blend with your fabrics. If you prefer your thread color to be bold, please let us know
Trimming:
Trimming the excess backing and batting is included. If you prefer to not have your quilt trimmed, please let us know.
Binding:
We do not offer a quilt binding service.
