Bottom whirl dropspindle
The Louët drop spindle is a simple tool for spinning wool. The Conventional drop spindle has weight or whirl to help with the spinning motion and a hook on the long end of the shaft. The hook is on top weight is on the bottom during spinning. The point can be used to spin the spindle on the floor or on a table. Yarn goes through the hook, and collects on the shaft after the spinner wraps the spun yarn. It is a very manual and slower method of spinning but is still used today by many cultures in South America and Aisa.
